The man is the definition of self-absorption of a man who has a much much important job than the one he has, a peculiarity that plays out in conventionally anti-social behavior and outright hostility to his sister Cyril ( Lesley Manville) and others in his path. Things change up when Woodcock (which is either a riff on Hitchcock or an attempt to play to the Beavis and Butthead crowd) meets younger and more conventionally spirited waitress Alma (Vicky Krieps) and essentially whisks her away to his lavish (but claustrophobic) abode. The picture jots back and forth about how much to commit to making Woodcock one of those insufferable artistic geniuses whose alleged gifts justify his hostility, and the film reaches a boiling point at the halfway mark with a powerful argument between lovers which in turn spurs a narrative change. And while little in the way of conventional incident happens during that first hour, there are visual and performative pleasures to be found. The issue is that, without going into details, the film eventually more or less (no spoilers) gets back on a conventional track, while its most interesting beats and incidents feel like pale imitations of other films (again, no spoilers) that we've seen just this year.
The chauffeur informs Jack, who orders his men to search for them. Later, Jack hosts a party at his mansion. Teapot and his friends decide to gatecrash, hoping to expand their business with the wealthy guests. They successfully enter the mansion undetected, and while socializing with the other guests, Jack privately meets a Triad boss to discuss a new deal for the counterfeit plates. A bodyguard then realizes the Five Stars Cleaning Co. are there, and alerts Jack, who interrogates Curly. Curly insists he has no knowledge about the case, and the ensuing ruckus causes a physical confrontation between the friends and Jack's bodyguards. The friends narrowly escape, only to be kidnapped by the Triad boss, who secretly wants to cut off the deal with Jack and obtain the plates himself. He orders the friends to give up the case, and holds Shirley hostage. The friends return home and finally discover the case. When they leave to make the dropoff, however, Jack's men arrives. Teapot, Exhaust Pipe, and Vaseline engage them in battle, while Curly leaves to fetch the Triad boss and Rookie goes for help.

This instead unleashes a supernatural presence that simultaneously attacks Lesmana in his hospital bed and possesses Laksmi, who then attacks Maya. An attempt by Alfie to take Maya to medical treatment is unsuccessful and only results in a delirious Maya fleeing into the forest. Maya is attacked by her mother and manages to successfully defeat her, only to succumb to the presence. Under its influence she murders Ruben's girlfriend Lily, who had answered his pleas for rescue. Meanwhile Alfie and Ruben discover how Lesmana gained his wealth, the cost of which were the souls of those around him. Alfie also fully recalls the moment of her mother's death, realizing that it was due to the demonic pact and not suicide. The presence also continues to torment Alfie, Ruben, and Nara. Maya returns to the villa, where she discovers a set of dolls made with the hair of each respective family member just before the presence invites her to become a satanic priestess. Now fully under its sway, she ultimately attacks her siblings and pleads with Ruben to join her, as the devil only wants the souls of Alfie and Nara.
